Forum and Chat Rules and Guidelines

This page includes the guidelines and rules for using the Mozilla forums. Also consult our legal notes. We assume good faith when handling violations of these rules: we will only warn or block users who repeatedly violate these rules.

Administrators have the final say in modifying, interpreting, or enforcing these rules.

Note: If you see a user breaking a rule or behaving inappropriately, please notify a moderator or administrator by clicking the "Report abuse" link next to the post. Don't try to deal with him on your own.

Topics covered in the support forum

Posts on the Mozilla forum should only be questions about Firefox, Firefox for Android, Firefox OS, Thunderbird, Webmaker, or answers to those questions. Users who post information that is not related to Mozilla help will be directed to another talk page (for example, mozillaZine ).

Post Help Requests

Create a new thread and only one for each topic or matter you need help with.

Do not reuse existing threads started by other users, even if they are on the same or similar topic. In such cases, ask a new question.

Spam

Users who post spam will have their post deleted. If a post includes links that are considered spam, they will also be removed.

Images

You can add images as screenshots. By adding images, you will make the help faster, more explanatory and with the intention of achieving more accurate solutions. Images deemed inappropriate will be removed as soon as possible.

Sensitive information

Do not post confidential information. Moderators will remove this information to protect your privacy.

Links

Link to content, rather than posting directly, unless you own it or have explicit permission to do so.

Do not post direct links to executable files. Moderators may remove these links to protect users from potentially dangerous downloads. What you can do is post a link to the page that contains the download file, although moderators can also remove it if they consider that page to be dangerous or if the link is spam.

Language and behavior

Do not use obscene, dirty, lewd or excessively violent language.

Do not personally harass, insult, taunt, provoke, or humiliate another forum user. Be kind, even if others aren't.

Don't over-boost a thread (post messages to it just to get it listed first on the forum)
